Afghanistan is a landlocked country in the south central part of Asia. It is bordered by Iran, Pakistan, and China. It has always been considered a crossroads of the East and West. It's a country with an interesting history and an interesting flag as well.
The flag of Afghanistan has changed more times than any other flag in the past century. Most flags remain unchanged for decades or even centuries. The flag that represents Afghanistan at present was introduced on December 7, 2004 at their presidential inauguration. This new flag was equal black, red and green colors. The width of every color is half of its length. At the center of the flag, is their national emblem. It has been on the flag in some form since the start of the nation. It was missing during the late 1990's during the Taliban rule. There are two flags located on each side of the emblem attached to the picture of the mosque, representing the the Mehrab and Pulpit. Below the picture of the mosque is writing that states the name of the nation. The whole emblem is in white. Afghanistan's sacred phrase "stating that there is only one God, Allah and one prophet Mohammad is on top of the emblem with a rising sun. The whole emblem has two branches of wheat around it as a sort of garland.
